Celebrations, parties,... any excuse is welcome in Ibiza to have fun.

People from Ibiza love to participate in all celebrations! Any time is good to enjoy, meet friends and family and have fun. And we do not talk about the well-known and multitudinous parties in the discos of Ibiza with dj's of renown; no, we are talking about local and popular festivals that we like to report on Typic Hotels.

For example, and taking advantage of the dates in which we are, what better excuse than the days of Carnival to go out to enjoy the parties, parades and other events organized for all kinds of public that surround those colorful days?

And they are days of joy, of humor, of putting aside the shame and bringing to light the imagination but, above all, the protagonists are the costumes and the costumes we call "mariol.los": disguises in themselves but not themed, the ones that are prepared with all that you can find home, pieces of clothes that you put on and go out to take the street! Practical, economical and traditional.

The main towns on the island of Ibiza such as Santa Eulalia, San Antonio and of course Ibiza town, make parades where members of different schools, organizations and groups of friends disguise themselves in a group and prepare their floats and dances according to their theme. The streets are filled with confetti, music and prizes for the best ones. In addition to the Carnival Rides, there is usually paella, with dessert and bread for very few euros, tortilla contests, “comparsas” and tasting of typical products.

The celebration of the Carnival begins on Thursday Lardero and the festive week ends with the Burial of the Sardine, which symbolizes the beginning of Lent.

Enjoy it, folks!
